Randomly found this place on a random google search for places to chill in Charlotte before a concert. This spot was everything and more. We came at evening time and we’re looking for an espresso martini and good coffee. Gosh we were blown away. Incredible service, perfectly curated music, friendly service and a dim/moody/cozy atmosphere. The Black Walnut Latte was everything I needed. We came back again the next afternoon and Ty was so kind!

I’m slowly starting to love the hobbyist. They have unique lattes, great aesthetic’s, drinks, and very kind staff. Just beware, it gets really crowded in here, sometimes to the point where you can’t find somewhere comfortable to sit. Also keep in mind there might not be an outlet where you are sitting, or the seating arrangement wont be comfortable to do work (like use a computer or write something). I loved the black walnut latte. I was really not a fan of the butter sage latte.

This cafe and bar's spacious layout with all the wood and plants really caught my eye - honestly, it left more of an impression than the drinks. The menu looked so good that I was tempted to go for a cocktail, but we had a packed day ahead. Since my friend and I are lightweights, we stuck with a matcha latte and a chai latte instead. The matcha was subtle but had a bit more flavor than most places. They've got all sorts of seating options - big tables, small ones - so it seems like a chill spot to hang out when it's not busy. Kinda bummed we couldn't try the cocktails, but it was still a nice break. Might have to come back when we've got more time to kill!

This place is nice coffee shop in Charlotte with a wine shop inside. So after you finish with your coffee you can then shop for a bottle of wine. The lavender vanilla latte was good but the lavender flavor was too subtle. But the the service was great and the space itself is really great. Very calm and refreshing atmosphere. The price was around 7.00. Inflation What can I say.

A Cozy Gem That’s Perfect for Work & Catch-Ups** I’m definitely in my coffee shop phase, so finding The Hobbyist was a total win. I stopped by to meet up with a colleague and chat through some work, and the **atmosphere was so inviting** that we ended up staying well past our planned hour. We both ordered lattes, which were smooth and well-crafted. There’s plenty of seating, but I can see how it might get crowded during peak hours—so don’t be surprised if you end up sharing a table. The **staff was friendly**, and the overall vibe really sparked creativity and focus. The Hobbyist has officially been added to my coffee shop rotation. Whether you’re working, meeting a friend, or just want a quality cup in a cozy setting, this spot delivers.

Come down to do a little work on a beautiful afternoon. The roll up window was open, music played at the perfect volume, plenty of folks enjoying the inside and outside seating, drinks were made well and served by a super friendly staff. Their coffee, wine, beer, and other drink options means there’s something for everyone. I didn’t have a pastry but they looked great.

Hobbyist serves some of the best coffee in town, but what really makes it stand out is the atmosphere. Every time I walk in, there’s this cozy, welcoming vibe that makes it hard to leave. Whether you’re there to relax or get some work done, it’s the kind of place that feels great every time you visit.

Best coffee in Charlotte. I've visited coffee all over... Portland (stumptown, heart..), NYC, verve in CA, 3Fe in Dublin, screaming beans in Amsterdam, houndstooth, patika, in Austin TX and many more... And this coffee is comparable to the best shops I've tried. I question why this shop isn't on anyone's radar except for how convenient it seems for NoDa traffic?
